Have you thought about counseling?
Hi! I’m Norine Vander Hooven and I really enjoy working with people who may be having a hard time in their day to day life because of depression, anxiety, grief, PTSD, trauma, or life transition.
It’s the days when you are really struggling to get out of bed because you can already feel your heart pounding or your mind racing about needing to get things done. You might find that there are times there is that critical little voice in your head with all of the negative thoughts, putting yourself down, and in the end you decide not to do whatever it was because you’re so down on yourself.
Maybe you are saying to yourself “I’m the one everyone comes to for help, I have to be the strong one” or “It’s just that I’m having a rough time lately.”
How do you take the first step in seeking out counseling?
Sometimes it can be hard for people to reach out for help. Most importantly, know that there is a way for you to change these feelings! As a result of our working together, you will be able identify and nurture the strengths and capabilities that you do have. You will be able to show yourself more self-compassion, and then you can learn to understand why you are struggling with some of these things. Additionally, you will learn how to be genuinely happier. Some of the things you might choose to talk about is your stress, sadness, everyday life struggles, or a trauma that you may have experienced.
When you make the decision to come to counseling, you are showing signs of strength and courage. This will begin to open up a whole new world for you. Maybe it’s one you’ve been wanting, but just didn’t know how to get there.
