Depression is feeling like you’re drowning while
everyone else around you is breathing
Today is just another day that seems to be a struggle to get out of bed and get ready for the day. You’ve called in sick to work again. It’s so hard when nobody can see the pain you’re in. People just don’t understand. They’re telling you to “get over it” and you just can’t do that.
You’ve tried to push it away, and tried to tell yourself it really doesn’t exist. Sometimes you can’t even pinpoint what is making you so sad. If everyone would just stop asking you “what’s wrong? You look so sad!” Everything you do takes every last ounce of energy from you. Some days you’re sleeping so much because you don’t want to face the world. Other days you can’t sleep because you just keep thinking about how bad life is right now. You can’t see a way out of this. You’ve tried medication, but that didn’t seem to help like everyone told you it would.
Depression is real
It effects over 350 million people worldwide and, does not discriminate as children, adolescents, adults and elderly can all be affected by depression.
You really don’t want to live this way. What if your sadness and feelings of emptiness could disappear. There wouldn’t be the feeling of a black cloud hanging over your head anymore. How freeing it would feel to get up in the morning, hop in the shower and be happy to go to work. You can chat with your colleagues or friends and not feel like you’re being an imposter! You can go out with your significant other and truly enjoy having a conversation and an enjoyable time. Going to the market or cleaning up around the house wouldn’t be a struggle, but just one of your daily activities. What about going out with your friends and laughing the way you used to? That would be the best!
