I originally got into the field of mental health because of my mom. She went back to school to get her MSW when I was in high school. She worked with adolescent girls who were in residential treatment. I saw what a huge impact she had on these girls lives and knew that was how I could help make a difference. As the years went on I worked in a variety of settings. What struck me the most was how there were so many people suffering from trauma, and how it severely impacted their daily lives. It really hit me that this is where I wanted to specialize and work with those who suffer from trauma and are experiencing anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts because of this.
As each person is different, so is my approach with them. We will work together to come up with what works best for you. One of my specialities is EMDR therapy. It is a specialized type of therapy to help people work through their anxiety, depression, and traumas and be able to lead healthy, happy and productive lives. Through EMDR therapy, you will remember your experience, but you won’t have the emotional attachment (anxiety or depression), nor the physical feelings, that drags you down when thinking about it. It becomes a memory like any other life event you’ve experienced.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 32 years of experience working with youth, adolescents, young adults, adults and families. I am also certified in EMDR therapy and working towards becoming a consultant to other therapists for EMDR therapy. My areas of expertise are depression, anxiety, trauma, suicide prevention and postvention, and women’s issues. For me, it was important to do something that would feed my soul. Helping people get back their lives, grow, and heal, is my ultimate goal.
I am in Private Practice in Westlake Village, California.
